Lately, I have been searching on Youtube for hit Korean pop songs. Turns out, other than SS501, Super Junior, Wonder Girls, TVXQ and all those popular Korean band groups we all know by heart, Korea has many other great singers too. I was quite surprised that all those singers and band we are so familiar with did not make it to the top 10 greatest hit monthly. Most at the top was some local Korean singers we hardly know at all, alike a complete stranger. But to be fair, their songs are really great. One such singer is Tae Goon, which I am currently writing about.
Taegoon (born Kim Tae Goon; Korean: 김태군; born 17 January 1986) is a Korean pop singer and dancer. His first television appearance was on the talent search program Battle Shinhwa in 2005. He reached the final round of the competition and was the last one to leave the group. Four years later, after completing hundreds of auditions he was finally able to start a career.
Born in Gongju, he got to know Kim Jae Joong and became good friends with him, even though they didn't go to school together.[2] Years later Jaejoong is willing to play together with Park Shin Hye and Taegoon in his music video for Call Me. Before he participated in Battle Shinhwa, he shaved his hair. He said in an interview that he didn't let his hair grow until he achieved his dream of becoming a singer. [3] While participating in Battle Shinhwa, he developed a special relationship to Kang Won-Rae, one of the judges. After he failed to make it into Battle Shinhwa(now known as Battle), he got a call from Kang Won-Rae, who said that he danced beautifully and that he wanted to get to know him.[4] Together they went to countless auditions, but Taegoon was unsuccessful. He felt ashamed and did not have any further contact with Kang Won-Rae. Taegoon had difficulties with his fitness level and weight. Most agencies told him he weighed too much, so he lost weight by drinking only water until he lost 20 pounds. He has now lost about 20 pounds compared to that time.[5] After some years he finally made his debut. In the winter of 2009 his first mini-album was released, and Taegoon had his first performance 17th January, on his own birthday. He released his 2nd mini-album in May 2009 and performed on stage on the MBC Show! Music Core soon after. With one of his singles "Super Star," Rising Star, the album, will surely be another hit among his fans
It's hard to believe it, isn't it. Taegoon debuted only in January this year. But within these six short months, he is so popular now. Since the first time I have been listening to 'Call Me', I have been so hooked to it. I like his voice, style and most importantly his dance. Did I ever mention that guys which dances well is considered attractive by me?! Compared to my beloved SS501 which took 4 full years to rise to fame, partly credited to Kim Hyun Joong and his Boys Over Flowers character, Taegoon only took around six months!! I just realised we know so little about Korean pop. Speaking of Koreans, I discovered recently that many Koreans are coming to resident in Singapore in recent years. Bishan is filled with new Korean families, always see a family or two at Junction 8, Bishan library and here and there. Sadly, those Korean guys are not my cup of tea. School was funny, fun and laughter have already become a usual routine of mine at school now. Swapped place with Ian most of the time today. And Ian actually removed my entire correction tape, he almost spoilt it. By the way, Ian has somehow became my Sexy. He would be happy to see this, I don't know why though. During Chemistry, Gabriel got tortured by Mr Tan partly thanks to me(: But that's my revenge for my punched arm and cutted hair. The rest of the day was sleepy, I was busy sleeping and Jia Xin kept saying I crying. Don't know why, but guys in my class is very sensitive to me crying now. I lie down and sleep, they think I cry-.- And it's eight of them in this week that wrongly assumed me crying. It's nice and sweet to know how much they cared so much for me, but it's really too sensitive of them.
