Baked a chocolate butter cake on Wednesday afternoon, due to my free time from the last-minute cancelled Additional Mathematics lesson with Mr Loh, Si Min and Haikal. Haikal still owes me something, numbers(:
I followed the recipe from some online Food Blog.
But in the end, I used my knowledge on baking and did not read the instructions provided at all. The only thing I did was to buy and follow the amount of ingredients on the recipe. So in other words, the process was Vanessa's method. My unique recipe with no experience in chocolate cake baking.
My mother and I expected it to be a complete failure, for it's my first time baking chocolate cake after all. Little did I know chocolate cake was alike the baking of banana cake. I've baked banana cake, butter cake and some fruit cakes in the past before, most was a failure at first. But I must say I have a flair at banana cake cooking, ask my classmates who ate my F&N pratical banana cake and you will know(: I substituted concepts and steps from my banana cake into my chocolate cake, the result was fantastic!
Sugar, spice and everything nice. I realised why my chocolate cake was so sweet and sticky, for the recipe states:350g flour
445g sugar
Can you believe it, the amount of sugar require was way more than the flour itself!!! I still have yet to count in the 225g of chocolate and chocolate chips. OMG, and I just blindly followed this recipe. I only realised this ridiculous instructions when I finished baking and was enjoying my cake. FML, totally. But glad my cake turned out delicious. Just that I hate to think how many weight I will put on after eating it.
Mixing can help build strong arm muscles, you will not be able to imagine the amount of energy needed to overcome the force and mix the cake well. My arm got very tired after mixing that I fell asleep sweetly while waiting for my cake to bake.
My first chocolate cake baking experience(: It tasted like some rich chocolate cake you get at Starbucks or maybe a 5-star hotel from the hands of a Michelin chef, at perhaps Four Season. I was joking about the Four Season part, but my cake really tasted like a typical chocolate rich cake at those coffee cafes. It's very sweet but tasty, really. I promised to share my cake with my classmates next time, when I find the time to do another baking session.
I like to bake cakes and pastries, a sudden passion. Really, even I don't know what am I posting here. So it's okay if you don't understand. My brain is not functioning. At tuition, I think about computer. When watching TV, I think about people. When sleeping, I think about my future. When eating, I think about dieting. What this my problem?! I just learnt Binomial Theorem today, it's not as hard as my friends say. At least I knew how to do the maths question on that.
